1998 at Mariner Health Care Nursing Home in Titusville. Mr. Austin was born in Alabama and came to Brevard County in 1942 to operate the Goethe Lumber Company in Mims. He was active in the Mims community and was a charter member of the Mims Volunteer Fire Department. He served on the LaGrange Cemetery Board and was one of the original founders of Mims Little League on land donated by the Charles Smith family of Mims.

He ran the ballpark until it was moved to its present location at Holder Park. Mr. Austin was also active in Eastern Star and helped organize the Demolays and Rainbow Girls in Titusville. He was active in church and community causes and is well known as being an original founder and "short order" fish fryer at Titusville Cracker Day. He was a charter member of the Masons, Shriners and Eagles and was a past Port Canaveral Commissioner in the 1970's.
