Batterymen 4-0 in the opener behind Minshew's effective live-hit pitching but the Major City boys needed a rally with two away in the sixth to clip the American League champs in the nightcap 2-1 Opponents of the ClOthiers in the city finals next Sunday will be Fort Worth Independents another team which hasn't lost a game the last two months The Independents sewed up the National League pennant Sunday by slugging out a 7-4 decision over Swift's Arrow 'S' club If a double-header next Sunday fails to decide a city champion the Clothiers and Independents will meet in the third and deciding game of the series will be played sometime during the week Zepeda Scores Morales Getting back to Sunday's playoff The Clothiers gave Minshew a two-run lead in the third and that was one run more than he needed The Batterymen couldn't solve Andy's puzzling downer which was nothing new Andy was never in real trouble fanning six allowing only four singles and a double One player Second Baseman Tony Zepeda gave him plenty of trouble rapping out three line singles and drawing a free pass on his fourth trip to the plate for a perfect day Don Arnold's double and Raul Manriquez' single completed the Batterymen's hitting in the opener Chet Bethel losing pitcher in the opener went back to the hill in the nightcap and checked the Clothiers for five innings Meanwhile Joe Jaso's boys gained a one-run lead in the fourth when Pete Morales singled stole second and raced home on Zepeda's fourth single of the day The second game was to be a seven-inning affair and for five and two-thirds it looked like a Willard Battery victory Things happened fast in the sixth though Jackson Hurls Eels-Hitter Rue' Hoffman rolled out but kinner Walt Pacchnl lined a one Totals 35 5 9 27 91
